Prior to 1995 most car manufacturers recommended to change the oil and filter every 3 months or 3,000 miles. Since the use of synthetic oils and flexible service scheduling that no longer holds true. Therefore your service schedule will depend more on your driving habits and the make and model of your vehicle.
